I made a topic similar to this on the OKS forum and thought I'd bring it to the majority. RULES: 1. One game per series 2. No compilations Okay, let's start~ 1. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - The only game that I would consider flawless. Some people complain about the the timer, but it's 2 1/2 hours! Come on now. 2. Golden Sun: The Lost Age - The first game that made me emotional and thought of video games as art. 3. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - I put almost 1,000 hours into this one, I kind of like it... 4. Super Smash Bros. Brawl - The perfect fighting game. In it's current form it's almost a 2D platforming game, pretty cool. 5. Pokemon Emerald Version - I don't think this game has the best Pokemon or the most content, but it feels the best paced and thought out. 6. Animal Crossing (GCN Version) - This game took a year of my life... Worth it. 7. Final Fantasy Tactics A2 - +300 missions in a Fire Emblem style game? If video games were girls, I'd want this one to be my mom (no one will get that reference). 8. Battlefield: Heroes - It's a free-to-play 3rd person shooter. Basically a mash up of Team Fortress 2 and Battlefield (more so Team Fortress). 9. Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom (Didn't expect that, did you?) - Obviously license games are pretty terrible, but my friend had this game and I tried it out. Wow. Turned out to be one of the best platforming experiences I've ever had (previously I'd played Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, so don't think I just have nostalgia for this game, it's really that good). 10. Sonic Generations - One of the biggest surprises this generation. I got all 1000(G)s if that says anything. Edited by AnnoyingNavi, May 23 2012, 04:46 PM.

1. The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind (PC) - The absolutely best RPG I have ever played in my entire life 2. Contra (NES version) - I never go more than a couple of months without playing this game, ever since I was a kid. Best shooter ever made IMO 3. Shadowgate (NES) - It was a hard choice deciding between the NES version and the N64 version, but ultimately I felt the NES version was the better experience. 4. Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - What can I say that hasn't already been said? One the most amazing games ever made. 5. The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap (GBA) - When deciding on a Zelda game, the first thought that crossed my mind was OoT, but rethinking it made me realize that Minish Cap was the version I enjoyed the most. 6. Battlefield 3 (PC) - My favourite game in the series, the Battlefield series as a whole has revolutionized online shooters, instead of focusing on K/D ratios, killstreaks etc. it focuses on cooporation, in a way that I feel greatly improves one the interaction with other players online. 7. Soul Calibur II (PS2) - The best fighter ever made IMO! 8. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - Out of all the amazing Mario games I could choose, this one stands out from the pack, taking a modern approach to its amazing legacy made for one of the best platformers ever made. 9. Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS) - One of the most weird and oddly appealing games i've ever played 10. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PS3) - Most people will say that the 2nd game was the best, but I felt the 3rd game was a much more refined experience, but besides that the Uncharted series has perfectly merged the realm of Hollywood theatrics with interactive media. An achievement I feel should go down in the history books. This is just a temporary list I think, I can never decide on these things properly, and i'm certain that if I made a list like this in a couple of months there would be changes. The only constants I can guarantee are The Elder Scrolls and Contra. Edited by lol_pc, May 23 2012, 04:22 PM.

Yay, Minish Cap! I feel like that game doesn't get the love it deserves. And Elder Scrolls 3 as Numbero Uno? I've never played it, but now I'm interested. |

I agree that no-one can say what are the top 10 best games ever, but i can give some of my favs and maybe give some reasons as to why. In no particular order 1) Resident Evil - Having been a fan of the Alone in the Dark series this game instantly stood out to me. AT THE TIME it looked amazing, the controls didnt feel too clunky and the sheer feeling of suspense was just incredible. I love the whole eerie mansion setting and the whole mystery behind whats been happening there. Many say the second is better but i still prefer the first, i dont think RE2 scared me once and i think thats the point to a survival horror. 2) Rick Dangerous - Rock hard platformer on the Amiga, C64, Speccy, CPC and Dos. Essentially taking the role of indiana jones you have to navigate your way through numerous cavern, ancient pyramids etc. Its a game that constantly punishes you until you memorize every trap and enemy and learn how to reserve your bullets and ammo. Its not very well known outside of Europe but its definetly up there with some of the hardest games ever made...hardest games that are still addictivley fun that is! 3) Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - I dont know if i can do this game justice really. Sure it has many glitches and the contols can be a little fiddley but once you get used to these then you have just opened yourself up to one of the best RPG experiences of your life. Many people praise Oblivion for its great graphics and beautiful scenery, morrowind didnt need that. Most of the time its fairly dreary and there are constant sand storms, everyone sounds miserable and unhappy to see you too haha. But i like bleak games, cause then its just me VS the world...which means im gonna steal everything i can, kill anyone i want and just do whatever i feel. It single handedly killed most J-RPG's for me and stopped me playing them for a good 6yrs pretty much. What a game. 4) Streets of Rage 2 - A 16-bit console beat em up that managed to beat seven shades of shit out of every single one of its peers in the arcades at the time. I've seen countless top 10's where SOR2 is kept off the top spot by some Konami or capcom beat em up like The Simpsons or TMNT etc. Its a travesty that really needs to be rectified. 5) Flashback - A great action platformer for the Megadrive/Snes/Amiga and PC. Anyone thats a fan of the Prince of Persia/Abes Oddessy style of gaming will love this. Great Puzzles, immersive action and graphics/sound that were phenomenal for the time. I'd advise the MD/Genesis version though, runs real smooth and i personally think its the best sounding version. 6) Wonderboy III: The Dragons Trap - Best 8-bit game ever...no questions, no comparisons, no reasoning. Its just fact. Proof of what the Master System was capable of when placed in the right hands. 7) MGS3: Snake Eater - My fav in a great series. So much has been crammed into it and it has this awesome feel and setting to everything. The music is perfect, the cutscenes are enjoyable without being tiresome. All the little hidden things like different animals to eat and different camo to aquire etc kept me entertained for hours! 8) Saturn Bomberman - Its Bomberman...on the Saturn...need i say more? 9) Snow Bros. - A great Bubble Bobble style arcade clone by Toaplan, it had a console port too but i havent played that. The arcade version just screams fun at me, fast co-op action with huge bosses, crazy music and heaps of enemies on screen. Never fails to amuse me. 10) I want to include a point n click adventure here but i cant decide which one, there are too many of them! So much so that im gonna leave it blank and just leave it as a tribute to all point n click adventures. Total cop out but oh well... Edited by Kharnivore2099, May 30 2012, 09:46 AM.

What. After playing RE2, I couldn't go into the restroom alone because of how the small window on the side made me paranoid. However, RE2 was my first resident evil game, so that might be why. xD |

RE2 just didnt have the same feeling of suspense for me. When i played RE1 i didnt know if the zombies where raised from the dead by supernatural forces or if they were *SPOILER ALERT* created using chemicals or viruses etc. I knew In RE2 that they were just infected with a disease so i ran around care free blowing thier heads off with a shotgun like it was the first day of spring. Now when it came to scenario B and you had to fight the massive guy in the long coat, that scared me...he was hard as nails. |
