Now that Hudson Soft has been officially shut down, essentially existing only as a brand name and perhaps an internal development team at Konami, what do you think will happen to Hudson's franchises?

I think Bomberman will continue, since that was Hudson's most popular and prolific series, appearing on pretty much every platform (even the Neo Geo!). Beyond that, I don't really see Konami placing much value on the likes of Adventure Island, Bonk, Star Soldier, etc.

I'm still a bit disappointed that Bonk: Brink of Extinction got cancelled (altho it had been stuck in development hell for a while). I'd like to hold out hope that Bonk will come back again someday. But again, I think it's all at the mercy of Konami now.

What do you guys think? Are most of Hudson's franchises gone for good?

Bomberman is bound to stay. Adventure Island might. Bonk, not so sure, but it would be nice to see anyway.

Dang, too many video game companies I've grown up with going out or gone! Lucky that Sega survived, though.

It is sad but hopeful to see another Bonk game and would have loved to seen a new Neutopia game :-/

Didn't the end of Neutopia II outright say that there was supposed to be a third game? With how strongly Hudson was supporting WiiWare, they might've eventually gotten around to doing a Neutopia III for it, maybe even as an episodic game, but no chance of that now.
