Im actually really suprised at the lack of votes for Link to the Past!
Amen. I like the original and you can't deny it's the standard, but Link to the Past had the most impact growing up.

Since on AGG it was speculated that people like a Zelda game more in respect to what generation they were brought up with. I'm interested to see whether this hold true or not, or whether there a partial truth to this based on this community. You can pick your favorite and second favorite, or you could post your top 5 or 10.

AGE: 22
FAVORITE ZELDA:
1.) The Legend of Zelda (NES)
2.) Twilight Princess
Small sample size so far, but I don't see any quantifiable correlation between generations and their Favorite Zelda. Seems pretty random. I think it speaks highly to the ability of Zelda to constantly reinvent itself and transcend style and time.

So many flaws right there...from a statistical purist standpoint.

Agreed. Stats can be made to say whatever you like if you know how to manipulate the numbers. However, there's obviously no correlation between age and which Zelda you like other than my old ass and my 1 vote for The Legend of Zelda.

It's still too early too tell, but there is that LttP representation showing up by the latter age group. I don't whether there is a way to divide the age group, but I'm assuming it would have to be divided based on each major Zelda release?

1986The Legend of Zelda
1987The Adventure of Link
1991A Link to the Past
1993Link's Awakening
1998Ocarina of Time
1998Link's Awakening DX *
2000Majora's Mask
2001Oracle of Seasons and Ages
2002A Link to the Past & Four Swords *
2002The Wind Waker
2004Four Swords Adventures
2004The Minish Cap
2006Twilight Princess
2007Phantom Hourglass
2009Spirit Tracks
2011Ocarina of Time 3D *
2011Four Swords Anniversary Edition *
2011Skyward Sword

Source: Wikipedia

I don't know how we could exactly divide this up, but I think the periphery of each first major console Zelda release would be more indicative of how the age groups would be distributed.

But again, I have no idea, the one I currently have is arbitrary. It was just to show that there is something going on with LttP and OoT, but that could simply be I manipulated the stats so it appears to be that way. The votes we have so far really isn't enough to go by really.

Could you just do only 1st place votes and use the standard demographic age ranges for market research: U18, 18-24, 25-30, 31+? How would the stats look then?

That's interesting, with those demographics there is a good correlation...Agreed that there is way too little sample size, but still fun to look at.

Aside from the stats, it's a great testimony to the quality of each game that nearly all of them have appeared in this thread at least once...

Even the Oracle games recieved honorable mentions, even if it wasn't on the list for first place or ("...and x").

But interesting to see that Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass have yet to be represented.

Interesting question!

Age: 29

Favorite LoZ: Link to the Past
Runner Up: Ocarina of Time

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that most people my age also think that the SNES or Genesis is also the best console of all time. Depends on when you grew up!

That is interesting. Phourglass is actually one of my least favorite Zelda games; that being said, I still cherish it more than most other handheld games I play. Spirit Tracks is far and away the better game, though, from my standpoint; it was the best handheld game since the Oracle duo.
