This week we are joined by Kevin "JuliusBloop" Lieber to discuss the most (debatably) disturbing movie of all time "A Serian Film" as happily recommended by friend of the show Oliver from the Halloween special. Pete and Johnny (especially Johnny) are thrilled to talk about what they witnessed in this film (Explicit warning!). Johnny and Kevin reminesce about Xenogears, Johnny wonders if Jason just hates enjoyment, we talk about listener appreciation month, and much more! Keep in mind all subject matter discussed in this episode regarding A Serbian Film is based on a work of fiction and all jokes aside we do not condone the acts depicted in this movie. Enjoy the show!

This is my favorite episode based solely on the fact that it's moved the pumpkin ass off of my screen when I visit the site! Whew!

So yeah, thanks for that Jason! :P

At least with passwords you'll be able to continue. Old battery saves can and will stop working eventually, rendering the game pretty much useless (especially when it's an RPG). I've had a couple NES titles' batteries die on me. Unless you want to play through the entire game in one sitting, or leave it on until you beat it, it really fucking sucks.

I've heard that changing out the save batteries is really not that tough.

Pete was crying out for help. He knew that he was that baby deep inside. Johnny you should have embraced his invisible tears.

I paused the podcast half way through and watched the whole uncut movie just because you guys had hyped it up so much. Honestly, I was more disturbed by what happened at the end than the "baby scene." Strange to think how something like that wasn't even the most shocking part...

You guys sounded so uncomfortable talking about that movie. You should have just changed the subject back to Chris Chan.

Yep, sounds like I unleashed a horrible demon upon you guys, sorry. XD Honestly I will reiterate I don't like A Serbian Film. I am happy that I have watched it though, because like you guys I probably won't watch it again.

Also, I greatly apologise to you Johnny for making you and your girlfriend so uncomfortable with it; honestly if you carry on I will warn you.....in my opinion it does indeed get worse.

Cheer yourself up guys, watch something like Macross: Do You Remember Love or Blade Runner. :)

I watched A Serbian Film last night. Anyone who follows me on Twitter probably saw my reaction tweets, and many a fair few people were amused by them.

My reaction overall: It's an exploitation film that occasionally has a snuff film vibe to it. It has a plot and some sociopolitical commentary, but the movie only stands out because of the shock value. There are maybe four scenes, including the aforementioned "newborn porn" scene, that will rattle you. Just as bad was the violence against women, which went way beyond the point where it should have. While watching the movie, I was partly shocked because of the brutality, but I was also laughing at how someone thought this up. It's beyond absurd, and that's why I'm not scarred or horribly offended by it. But what you've heard is true, this movie is not for the squeamish and it starts off deceptively tame. I'm a blood-and-gore veteran and I was getting uneasy during certain parts.

Overall, it's not a terrible movie. It has decent production values and a very atmospheric soundtrack that is used to good effect, but it's only worth seeking out if your curiosity is piqued and you think you can stomach it. Downloading the uncut torrent is recommended.

I'm about half-way through the podcast. So far, so good, but it's hard to get the movie out of my mind while listening :P

I thinks its live action, taking that King of Fighters Challenge is one thing but if anyone challenges everyone to watch this movie, I wont be in line for that shit.

I watched the film before listening to the podcast, and honestly I'm more shocked at how Johnny acted throughout the whole episode than the movie itself. :P (You rock, Johnny.)

My reaction: Yes it is disturbing, but I think it has a great storyline and some great cinematography. I read on Wikipedia that the director wants this film to be "a parody of modern politically correct films" and a metaphor for their "national cinema - boring , predictable and altogether unintentionally hilarious which throughout our film to some extent is commented on and subtly parodied", and however BS that sounds, I just wanna put it out there for those hating on the director.

I find the ending as the worst part, its just damn straight disturbing but clever storytelling from the cinematography point of view. I thought it's an overall good movie, but I will probably never watch it again.

My thoughts on A Serbian Film are in that thread with the same name, so I'm not gonna say anything about it.

The rumours were true. Grand Theft Auto 5 will be taking place in a fictional LA(Los Santos). My favorite GTA is San Andreas so that's great news. Also it will include forests and countrysides just to mix things up a bit and not only be in the city. Can't wait!

When you started talking about Xenogears and Xenosaga, you kinda got me interested in them. So I did some research and it turns out that Xenogears was never released in Europe. And the only Xenosaga game that we got was the 2nd one, the one Johnny said sucked. Ugh....
I apologize in advance for any bad english.

Since you mentioned Xenogears for anyone who is interested (I dont know if someone mention this before) but there is a new sound track for Xenogears here is the link below.
As well as a release of the original for the same price which makes me mad for I paid 86 dollers to have the damn sound track imported from japan! By the way great show as usual!

I could never bring myself to watch the LotR films, aside from the first one. At the end of it, I was honestly very disappointed, because I felt that the progress made throughout the course of the movie (or lack thereof) ultimately caused me to loathe the pacing of the movie. As such, I have absolutely no interest in watching the others (or rewatching the first one), especially given the fact that these things seem to get longer and longer with each new release.

I'm content with having watched the cartoon version of LotR that was made in 1978. XD

And, to touch upon what John said about people who love Star Wars loving LotR (and vice versa), I absolutely *love* Star Wars, aside from episodes one and two. Why? Because the pacing in those movies just feels too deliberate and slow. That's why I can't get into those LotR movies, even with the promise of more action in the second and third movies.

Regarding the discussion about downloadable games, to be honest, I'm more concerned about the preservation of the current generation of games in general. There are some great games on current-gen consoles, and the reliance on DLC and patches is ultimately going to make the physical copies that everyone seems to be so concerned with useless.

What good is a physical copy of a game if the game shipped broken and needed a patch, for example? How about Arkham City and the fact that part of the story from day one required a separate download from a service that may not even offer that download in ten years? That really sucks. I realize that companies generally care more about making money and selling future products than they do about whether or not we'll be able to play their games ten or twenty years down the road, but I wonder what developers within the current generation think about the fact that the games that they put so much work into may not be around for people to see in the future.
