I thought the infected in 28 days/weeks later weren't true zombies but people infected with a weaponized version of rabies. also found out zombie technically isn't the correct term anyways as a zombie is a person or corpse enslaved through black magic to do the bidding of the enslaver. the Romero zombies we know of are closer to the folklore creature the Revenant wich is a corpse or wraith who comes back from th dead to torment the living usually a loved one. |

Aside from Hammer Horror and decent zombie movies, horror has never been my sort of thing. Hammer is my jam though. I love that shit. The Curse of Frankenstein, The Mummy etc. 28 Days Later is a fucking phenomenal film, one of my favourites. Especially if you've been to any of the places in London at the start of the film that are empty. A bit like seeing Times Square empty. It's really weird. I liked that the 'zombies' were infected with a virus as opposed to being undead or whatever - the fact that they ran just made them creepier. The Walking Dead reminds me of 28 Days Later also, I just started watching season one on blu-ray and I'm fucking sold. I like my zombie-based media doom laden! Oh one of my favourites about zombies also is this British five part series called Dead Set, which is basically about a zombie outbreak during the TV show Big Brother, which strands the contestants inside the house. It's fucking awesome. Edited by skooks, Oct 26 2011, 11:42 PM.

The People Under the Stairs scared the absolute crap out of me as a kid. I remember watching it when I was, like, 7 years old. Yeah. Huge freaking mistake. Also, I feel the need to add that Oliver does NOT sound like an 18 year old xD Edited by NostalgiaKing, Oct 27 2011, 03:17 AM.

I do seem to have that bizarre effect on people; half of them think I'm somewhat older than my age and yet the other half thinks I'm younger. Either way I think it's quite amusing. |

Man, Oliver's movie knowledge is crazy! I'm a pretty hardcore horror guy myself, but I feel schooled. Blue Underground here in the states is fantastic for re-releasing some great flicks. City of the Living Dead, Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, Maniac, House by the Cemetery, ect... so many great movies! No Troma or classic horror talk, but you guys could go all day!! So hard to cover so much in so little time! Really enjoyed this episode guys! |

Haven't listened to it yet but will be Sunday night but man I am in for a treat when it is nearly 3 hours long. Enjoyed last year's episode going into the horror stuff and Johnny getting freaked out over Human Centipedge (never seen it) etc. Oliver's movie knowledge is excellent if you check out his collection update videos. I enjoy watching them and love his voice since it is articulate and does sound older than he actually is. Never seen the infamous two girls one cup. Don't think I will but I have a feeling what it is to do with. Could be totally wrong. |

Excellent episode, except for the mentioning of 2 girls 1 cup. Ha ha, I think Jason really did barf! The actress in Brainstorm, Natalie Wood, actually died in 1981 of drowning. The film actually wasn't finished when she died, they had look alikes and sound alikes finish filming the movie before it came out. |

Fun and wide-ranging discussion. Kids today are too insulated. During first grade in the mid-'80s I used to check out Aliens and Night of the Living Dead from the library on a regular basis. No grief from my mom, and the library didn't try to block me. You have to learn about death, decay, and danger at some point, so might as well ease kids into it with movie portrayals before they experience the real thing. Good suggestions overall, except that Vertigo is a boring mess, famous only because it's famous. The plot is silly, the characters are overdone but played seriously, and there's hardly any suspense. I left it running but went on to something else about halfway through. If people haven't seen many Hitchcock movies, start with Psycho, Rear Window, and Dial M for Murder. I like Rear Window the best because there's an Everyman character who gets pulled into a seedy mystery in his own back yard, kind of like Blue Velvet. |

It was great hearing Oliver back on the podcast, as he was one of my favorite guests before. I agree that he definitely sounds wise way beyond his 18 years. I also now have a list of horror movies I need to check out...even Rubber. Sorry, with a premise that absurd, I just have to see it. Keep up the great podcasting, guys. AGG has become one of the reasons I now look forward to Wesnesdays. |

I feel that Vertigo becomes better and better everytime I see it.....and I already thought it was a masterpiece the first time I saw it. So I highly disagree and I'm sure many more with me. But to each his own, ofcourse! It's very hard to pick a favorite Hitchcock film, because there are so many great ones. I'm also a big fan of his lesser known films, like: Stage Fright (great story twist), Frenzy (love the scene with the killer in the potato truck), Rope, Shadow of a Doubt, I Confess (The film always makes me feel sad, if you know what happened to the main actor in real life) etc etc I guess it's still a toss up between Psycho, Rear Window and North by Northwest. Another reason what makes a lot of Hitchcocks movies stand out are the brilllant scores by Bernard Herrmann.......the opening credits music for Vertigo, Psycho & North by Northwest really is some of the best moviemusic out there! I'm way too squeamish for horror films; I can barely get through The Shining! I could never sit through most of the movies you guys mentioned.lol Check out Lair of the White Worm, I thought it was cheesy, yet scary and disturbing all at the same time. Anyway, I plan on playing all the Ghouls and Ghosts games for Halloween

The Shining? I honestly don't get the love of that film because I remember watching it in a media studies class during college and I thought it was boring as hell and consider it to be overrated. Not a fan of horror films anyway but I always like hearing people who are talk about them. |

Haha. If Jason hasn't seen the reaction videos for Two Girls One Cup, then he should still check them out. I've gotta say, though, that I didn't get very far into the video (which I watched a long time ago) before I started gagging. I didn't even want to risk looking at it again, so I just left the room until I didn't hear the audio playing anymore. |

Great episode and a fantastic choice for a guest. Oliver's movie knowledge is just amazing for his age. Thanks for educating me! When i heard Pete mention Rubber on the podcast and saying that it's a strange movie with strange humor, I paused the podcast right away and watched the whole movie from begining to end and.........I LOVED IT! What kept me interested the whole time was the weird humour. Sure the movie had no point, but that WAS the point. Nothing had a reason. "No fucking reason". But also I can see why some people don't like it. I also just finished watching A Serbian Film and...WOW. This is truly the most fucked up movie I've ever seen. I saw the 98 minute version so I guess I missed the most grusome parts. But it was still screwed up. I mean there was necrophilia, pedophilia, raping of a newborn("It's new genre. Newborn porn.") and literally skullfucking. That one review was right. The Human Centipede really is like The Carebears compared to this. Speaking of The Human Centipede, I really have to disagree with Oliver on this one. I thought it was a well made suspensful horror film, with an interesting premise. Dieter Laser was awesome in his role as the doctor, but I wouldn't say that he was the only reason to see the movie. Full of cliches, sure, but an interesting watch nonetheless. Not so sure about the sequel though. haven't seen it yet, but I doubt I'll like the movie as much as the original. But i still wanna see it. It's one of those movies that pushes the limits of cinema, that's why it's a must see. And thankfully the third film will be the final one. And after that, 15 years later, maybe Six will make a prequel trilogy. With Jar Jar Binks... There are a few horror films that I wanted to mention that weren't mentioned on the podcast. How about Lars von Trier's Antichtist(2009). That movie also has some pretty disgusting moments in it, but unlike some previously mentioned movies, the violence isn't it's main focus. Avoid the film if you don't like artsy films, because the plot is really kind of thin. Antichrist really has only 3 chracters(and one of them dies in the very beginning) so it'll make you feel kinda isolated. I'd recommend it, I liked it. Oh, and just a warning. The opening shot of the movie is a close-up of William Dafoe's cock going into a twat and out again in slow motion. You've been warned. Next, how about Mum and Dad(2008). It's a British horror film that's about some pretty screwed up parents and their screwed up children, who lure a young woman, who happens to be an immigrant, into their house. And in that house they'll start torturing her and treating her like she was one of the children. The dude who plays the dad character, Perry Benson, does a fantastic job at being one creepy fuck. And the other actors handle their roles pretty well too. Another great film. Of course I can't go on without mentioning David Lynch's Eraserhead(1977), which just happens to be my favorite movie of all time. Again a very artsy and disturbing film(at least for its time). I recommend this to any horror fan. And one movie I feel needs to be mentioned is The Devils Rejects(2005) by Rob Zombie. I consider it one of the best horror movies of the last decade. It has a lot of dark comedy, great characters and awesome music. Check it out! And what was the name of that anime horror film. One of them was Wicked City, but what was the other one? And one more thing i need to mention is that, I really don't get Johnny's hate towards the Mario Kart series. And I know it's been said before, but Capcom is doing the exact same thing with Street Fighter. Actually Capcom is even worse. While Nintendo releases one Mario Kart(a different game every time) per system Capcom pumps out a trillion different versions of the same game. There are slight alterations, but it's the same fucking game. HOLY SHIT! This is a long post. Well, no need to make it any longer. Edited by KlaasPlekk, Oct 28 2011, 01:20 PM.

The other anime Oliver mentioned was: UrotsukidÅji BTW...great post! Have to agree with you there about the Human Centipede! The best thing about it, next to the crazy premise and Dieter Laser, for me, is how good the actresses performed the desperation they were in, although they couldn't speak...I really thought they performed really well. Sure...it aint Shakespear or something and it's quite an absurd predicament they're in, but I think the movie worked well because of all these things together. I ordered the US blu-ray of "a Serbian film' a while ago. I believe it's the 103 minute version. I hope I can stomach the whole thing LOL |

No offense, but I felt there was too much movie talk. I know horror movies are related with Halloween but it was a bit too much for me, since I'm not really into them. I would have preferred more talk about horror in games over the years. And the episode pic... kinda gross... makes it a bit embarrassing to link to the All Gen Gamers site with images like that on it. |
