This week we are joined by a good friend of the show, Ed "SplatterTrigger" who last appeared on Episode 3! Ed is given the chance to just hang out in a more relaxed show where we don't force him to do as we say, so don't tell me what to do! Games we've been playing recently also makes it's trimphant return and Pete makes sure it's one that won't be forgotten anytime soon. Meet us at PAX Prime Friday Auguest 26th 4:00pm at the front of the convention center!

I agree with Johnny about being sick of the Mario Kart games (I still think the first one is the best and haven't played any of them since the GameCube era). But it's amazing how well they sell. I think they are system sellers. According to Wikipedia, the Wii version has sold 28 MILLION COPIES. I guess releasing them every 5 years or so, there's always a new generation of young kids who have never played a Mario Kart before. I say, let them have them, so long as Nintendo would also bring out games like Xeno Blade and Last Story for us older kids.

I'm about halfway through it. Pete's talking about Catherine. I loved the game, never had to use YouTube and played on Normal. But damn.......6-3. I feel you, Pete.

Great to hear my buddy Splattertrigger back on AGG!

I agree with you guys totally with Catherine. I was very interested in the game, then I played the demo. The puzzle aspect was not for me, but I loved the characters and story. I may grab this if it ever goes on the cheap.

I was rather surprised by Johnny's rant about the Mario games for the 3DS, not being system sellers and all. I think I'm about the same age as Johnny and I can safely say that I just can't get enough of the Mario games, especially the Mario Kart series. Plus the argument that Nintendo keeps rehashing the same gameseries over and over is something all gamedevelopers do with their most important assets....it realy isn't something Nintendo is doing exclusively.

You could say the exact same thing, for example, about the Dragon Quest games . The core gameplay for a Dragon Quest game is always the same kinda thing and you can bet Dragon Quest X, will be another extremely traditional RPG in the same vain as the others in the series. I guess for fans of the DQ games that is what they want out of them, they feel really comfortable that they're getting a typical/traditional "Dragon Quest" game, they know what to generally expect and it's the exact same thing for me and the Mario Kart series. I know what to expect and I love those games for that specific reason.

Man, you have to be really careful about that stuff.

I'll agree to that. My master system got fried since my local game store gave me the wrong power supply for it. I only paid $20 for it, I can't imagine how I would feel if I lost an AES from a power supply.

Well according to wikipedia page on the Neo Geo AES the AES older model used a 5v DC while the newer model used a 9v DC adapter. Now the Sega genesis model 1 and model 2 both require 9-10 volts. so it would stand to reason that yeah a Genesis AC/DC adapter would function on a Neo Geo AES well at least the later model. it makes sense to me as both the Genesis and the AES both utilize a Motorola 68000 main cpu (gensis at 7+mhz / AES at 12 mhz) and a zilog z80 audio controller chip. so power consumption should be similar.

"IMO black ops 2 is going to be a new experience in the. I'd franchise something cod desperately needs to survive. I mean theres only so many modern day guns and half of wich they always reuse. This game is going to have everything new and therefore it will be like cod 4 all over again. This is my opinion don't hate!" -- paradoxSPA, YouTuber and CoD fan

As far as power supplies go, Retroware TV has a good video on power adapters. It doesn't cover the Neo Geo, but it has some good general information.

Check it out here:

Word on that. I've never quite understood the argument that just because it's the tenth sequel doesn't mean that it's "just the same game rehashed." Sure, some games end up very similar to one another, e.g. Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 or any given Pokemon, but as long as the creators put effort into making it a new experience, I don't mind if it's a familiar formula. And whenever I see the name Mario in a title, I know I can expect a good time; Nintendo doesn't usually let us down.

According to the serial number I have mine is like 39,000 or something like that, so its one of the older AES consoles. My only worry is I dont know the OFFICIAL region that my console is since it has uni bios in it, though I am going to guess it is NOT a US console or else I would have paid more for it, so its wither european or ajapanese (since unibios gives me those teo options for switching between region mode). So its safe to say I can continue using a genesis power supply without problems?

OK i looked and i this one site says the 30000 bracket of AES systems are japanese models. Well if you have an older model it may be the 5v DC model in wich case it may be a good idea to get a different AC adapter as your using a 9v genesis one it may cause problems but thats just my guess it may work perfectly fine i'm just going by what the tech specs say in general. ok i looked further and all i keep seeing is it should work fine but just to be safe keep an eye on it.

doesn't it say on the system what the specs should be?

also, the system takes a dc power supply... it doesn't matter what the region is. The power supply (ie: brick) is the thing that is different from region to region.. also japan uses pretty much the same voltage as us.

I suggest having another look at your console, also the mA amount is the real important thing here.. more so then the voltage.

also pete, have you considered the MVS to AES adapters? I know they are very expensive for a stupid adapter that doesn't do anything but change the physical pcb contacts shape etc.. but still may be cheaper then the consolized mvs...
