The Wii is my favorite console of all time. Why? 1.) Controllers The Wii has 3 controllers (Classic Controller Pro, Wii Mote Plus and Gamecube Controller). If I just want to chill out I can use the GCN Controller, If I feel like moving around I have the Wii Mote. This gives me variety, something that most consoles lack. I want to be able to play games in different ways and this is the best solution. 2.) Backwards Compatible In my opinion, I think that the GCN has the best game library of all time. So now I have the best library of all time PLUS a kick-ass library of Wii games. Pure win. 3.) Size The Wii is a small system. Very portable unlike the 360 and PS3 (Not hating 360 or PS3, just stating a fact). 4.) Graphics I have both a Wii and a 360, but no HD tv. Playing on a standard definition tv, I hardly notice a difference in graphics... Like I always say, just look at Super Mario Galaxy 2. 5.) 1st Party The Wii has some of the best games of all time. Fire Emblem, Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, Mario Strickers Charged, PBR, Metroid Prime 3, DK Barrel Blast, Super Mario Galaxy 1+2, Super Smash Bros Brawl (Best game of this generation), Mario Kart Wii and so on.. (Don't feel like naming all the games :p) 6.) 3rd Party The Wii is FULL of hidden gems. Square Enix and Capcom have put some fantastic games out on the market. Some being (not just SE and Capcom...) Crystal Bearers, DQ Swords, Okami, Chocobo's Dungeon, Thrillville, De Blob 1+2, Crash, Spyro, Zak & Wiki, Harvest Moon, Sonic Colors, Sonic Unleashed, Samba De Amigo, MySims, Golden Eye, Tales of Symphonia, Mushroom Men, Rune Factory, MadWorld and Echoes of Time (again, no need to name all the games). This is but a few of the awesome 3rd party titles on the system. 7.) Dashboard The Wii is by far the most organized and has the best dashboard. No need to go into details... 8.) Price The system is cheap and the games are cheaper. Buy a $60 COD on 360 that would give me a few hours, or buy a $20 Square Enix game that would last for hundreds of hours. I could keep going on and on, but I think you got the idea... |

I'm kind of confused on the discussion value here... I honestly probably wouldn't have commented at all except I kind of took issue with you saying the games are cheaper. I really disagree. Super Mario Galaxy (Which came out in 2007) is still $50 new and about $35 used everywhere I've seen it. I've bought loads of used 360 games that I ended up really enjoying for $5-$10. Even Halo: Reach, a first party 360 game, is only $35 new and about $25 used, and it just came out last year. In fact, the majority of Nintendo's first party games stay pretty expensive, with the exception of Other M. Metroid Prime Trilogy, you'd be lucky getting it $60 used. Playstation's games are usually more expensive than 360's, being Blu-Ray and all, but not even Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls or God of War III goes for more than $25 used. I could probably give more of a rebuttal than that, but honestly I don't really care much for console wars, I'm happy you're enjoying your system I recently modded mine and took the region lock off of it so that I could play Fatal Frame IV and have been enjoying it quite a bit myself (Yes, I imported the game from Japan, no I do not plan on doing any pirating or other illegal activity) and I'm also planning on importing Xenoblade and The Last Story, if they are not released in America, from the UK, so there's even more to look forward to It would be nice if they kept Gamecube compatibility for the Wii U as well... I've already gotten pissed off at one company for removing BC from their consoles (And that's why Sony hasn't receive 1 dime from me this generation :P), I don't wanna be mad at the company who brought me Zelda... |

I'll agree that the blockbuster titles on 360 & PS3 tend to be cheaper at a faster rate than Nintendo. Wii games took forever to get the "Nintendo Selects" branding and put to $20, however games like Uncharted & Halo go down in value quite fast. I also agree that the first party games have very high quality graphically. Mario Galaxy looks great. However that is probably the best of what you will find. I find most other games on the Wii do not match near that quality. I don't care too much personally, graphics are hardly the deciding factor in gaming for me. I haven't been a big "current generation" gamer so I can't comment too much. My Wii gets played the most of the 2 that I have (still lacking a PS3) however that is not saying much. My N64 has gotten the most time this year and as of lately my PS2

I was actually refering to 3rd party games on price, but you're right about 1st party titles (other than DCK Returns). |

Super Mario Galaxy 2 may be $50, but it's the exception, not the norm. Wii games, by and large, launch for cheaper prices, and fall faster and harder than games on other platforms. I just bought Sin & Punishment: Star Successor as a giveaway for $14. Shipped. That's a Nintendo published game, scarcely a year old, for less money than two people to go see a movie. For every Super Mario Galaxy 2, there are dozens of Sin & Punishments. |

I disagree Why? 1. Quality over quantity. I love the xbox 360 controller and i feel like it's superior to any of the wii ones especially since they don't always work with all the games which is sucks. 2. Backwards compatibility is really cool 3. Depends. Some have room, some don't. The ps3 is very light and quite tiny where as the xbox 360 slim is alot heavier. Of course being smaller is better but when there is a huge "power difference" between the consoles you can't help but to wonder if the small size is worth it especially when the systems are pretty much made to be played at home and that's what most people do. 4. Graphics.. saying that you play xbox 360 on standard tv and because of that the graphics of wii are comparable to it is stupid, no going around that. I personally like the wii graphics but compared to the 2 other this generation systems they're a let down. There are plenty of awesome cartooney looking games on ps3 and xbox 360. 5. Yeah, the first party games are what make nintendo so great. But does that really make the SYSTEM better than the others especially when xbox and sony do both have TONS of games that wii simply can't run. I was a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE gamecube fan and i loved it atleast as much (and while i had friends come over even more) than my playstation 2 but i can't help but to sometimes consider wii "just a motion control gamecube" 6. 3rd party is good on all of the 3 systems. I don't feel like the wii has anything that special compared the others. Especially when you miss all those awesome online games (and the experience) that 360 and ps3 owners get. 7. I disagree. I think 360 > wii > ps3 in this but once you get used to them it's "whatever" 8.Although the cod thing you said was imho stupid it's obvious that wii is a cheap console. However sometimes there is a reason for something being cheap. My last thoughts: I personally consider wii to be a somewhat of a failure. It's not that i don't enjoy the games but more like the limitations of the system are holding the games back. I dream of first party nintendo games on the ps3 and can't wait for Wii U. Also a huge minus from me to nintendo systems in general is that the games just retain their values pretty much untill they release a classics [insert a nintendo equivelant here] copy of the game or the next generation comes. So yeah, i think wii is a quite 'not so good' system held up with great games. Also i can't stretch the idiocy of saying that you hardly notice the difference in graphics between 360 and wii while playing on standard tv.. i mean i know i'm being a douche but COME ON! |

Thanks for calling me stupid :p And I think I look at graphics differently than most people. When you say a game has good graphics, that usually means it has amazing textures and polygons and so on. But when I think of graphics I think of what looks most appealing to the eye. Let's look at Mario Galaxy compared to COD. COD has better graphics, but lacks color, unique environments and it will probably end up aging.. But with a game like Mario Galaxy it's full of color, changes up the scenery and because of its art style probably won't age a bit (like Wind Waker). This also goes for other games like Muramasa and Okami. Are they more appealing than Halo? COD? Fable? I would say yes. I think the use of the word "graphics" in games is used more to define if a game looks good or not. Say what you will, but that's how I see things. |

Wouldn't backward compatibility be that it played Wii games technically? To play Gamecube games would be going a couple systems (which obviously isn't unheard of but can you be mad at a company for not stepping backward two generations?) As far as the graphics go I can see what Navi means. Some of the Wii (and PS3 and 360 games to be honest) games are very nicely stylized and will age better against a game that's better looking now in a technical sense. Does the Wii have more games full of better art direction and design though? That's debatable. |
