So it only took 1 year, but I have finally come up with a segment for myself that can be used every show and also likely contribute to some possible great discussions on the show among all of the hosts. When thinking of a segment, I had to think of something that would be easy for me to talk about on a weekly basis (without time problems, sorry eBay segment!), so it suddenly hit me that people are constantly PMing me in one form or another asking for my personal game recommendations, so I figured this would make a great segment for the show! Here's how it works: I will only read your questions and give recommendations on the podcast ONLY from questions asked directly in this forum topic (not from Youtube PM, Facebook, etc) to make it easy to know who wants their stuff answered on the show. Be specific as possible! If you would like a higher possibility of me reading your post on the podcast, please take some of these pointers below: -Tell me what systems you own (or a specific system you want a recommendation for) -Tell me what genre of game's you like (or one specific genre you are interested in) -Tell me some of your favorite games (if you are asking about a specific system then tell me your favorites from that system. If from a certain genre, tell me your favorite games from that genre, etc. and why, if possible) -Tell me some of your least favorite mechanics in a game (ex: you hate first person, don't like cartoon graphics) -Tell me specifically what you are looking for in a game to help aid my recommendation (ex: open world, surreal graphics, score based gameplay, multiplayer, online, top down camera, the more specific the better). -If you know of similar games to the type you are looking for, PLEASE specify the ones you have played so I do not recommend you a game you have already played. -Don't bother asking about Sports games. Hey pete I would like to get some rpgs for either the ps3 or 360. Now as many people know I am not a big RPG guy except for a few so I was wondering is there any good simple turn base rpgs without having to know a lot about merging items and what not out there for the ps3 and/or 360 that you think I could get into. |

This'll be awesome, Pete I own all 6th gen systems and I want to find a good open-world racing game or an open world adventure game that isn't GTA. I dislike cell shaded graphics, but I can live with them if the game is really good (one of my favorite games is Wind waker). Look forward to hearing your recommendations!

Hey Pete, I've been wanting a segment like this for quite some time so thank you for creating it. Anyway: The specific system I would really like a game recommendation for is the Playstation One/Playstation 2. I am especially interested in RPG's & Rail Shooters (e.g. Rez). Like many other gamers I really enjoy the Final Fantasy series for the traditional combat system & amazing storyline's; I also recently picked up Rogue Galaxy & Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (the first DG game to be released in a PAL region) and have found them both to be a unique experience for both their cel shaded graphics & unique gameplay, so as you can see I am a follower of Squaresoft/ Square Enix/Level 5 titles. The thing that I dislike most about an RPG is a terrible soundtrack. Being in battle so much, I want audio that keeps me going, keeps me drawn in & wants me to keep going back. I would really like a recommendation for a game that will give me a good number of hours to play with (25-35 hours), one that has a unique graphical style & a plot line with characters that are interesting & that have voice actors that make you cringe when they are speaking dialogue or yelling battle cries. REZ was an amazing experience to play on the Playstation 2 and with the recent release of Child of Eden I was wondering if there were anymore similar titles to REZ on the 7th generation of consoles. Hope this helps Pete, I know you are always asked about RPG's but I would really love some more of the ones that aren't well known on the seventh generation of consoles, maybe some that were Japanese only and that just didn't sell to well. Hey Pete, I recently became interested in top down shooter games. I purchased one on a whim during the Steam sale and I love it! The game is called Jamestown. Its the only kind I've played, besides space invaders. I'm not partial to genre, though I assume most of these games are sci-fi based. I can't say much of what I love or hate because I'm still new to this type of game. Multiplayer and online capabilities would be a plus. My systems: - NES - SNES - Sega Master System - Sega Genesis with Sega CD - N64 - Playstation 2 - Gamecube - Playstation 3 - Xbox (Sadly it has the red ring of death) - Wii - Gameboy - Nintendo DS - Sony PSP - PC Thanks! =) Edited by Phantomjest, Jul 19 2011, 06:03 PM.

i own a Ps3, Wii, Xbox360, ps2, nes, snes, 3ds I enjoy Rpg's My favorite is FFX Final Fantasy TEN mainly because of the longevity of the story mode and compelling story with a strong sense of progression. I disliked that the game didnt have tons of character customization. I want a game that has character customization or an open world, i willing to sacrafice one for the other if possible or a compelling story. Thanks PETE |

Hey Pete! I'm looking for a nice side scrolling platformer/shooter, but the I'd also like that game to have really colourful and pretty graphics along with a really nice story. A good soundtrack is also a nice addition, and sound effects as well. I was wondering if you knew any. An example of one in particular that I love with all my heart is Cave Story. Hey Pete, thanks a lot for the addition of this segment! If you recall last year I received a Saturn with about 18 games to start, and I haven't gotten any since. I know you are a big Saturn fan so I really want some recommendations for the Sega Saturn that might be good to play. I'm not looking for anything very specific, but it would be great to hear about some good turn-based RPG's or Platformers on the system, since I've been really interested in playing more of those lately. Just to avoid confusion, these are the game I already own, so there's no need to recommend them: - Bust-A-Move 2: Arcade Edition - Daytona USA - Daytona USA: Championship Circuit Edition - Defcon 5 - The Mansion of Hidden Souls - Myst - Nascar 98 - NBA Jam - Quake - Resident Evil - Revolution X - Robotica - Shanghai: Triple Threat - Tomb Raider - Virtua Cop - Virtua Fighter 2 - Virtual Casino - World Series Baseball And these games actually have nothing to do with my taste in games, so please don't take them into account when making your recommendations. Interesting segment to say the least. Hope it goes off without any hitches like you recommend a game for someone and they hopefully like it but I am sure most people trust your judgment on here anyway. Here are the systems I own: -SNES -Dreamcast -GBC -GBA -DS -3DS -N64 -Gamecube -PS1 -PS2 -PS3 -Xbox -Xbox 360 -Sega Saturn -Sega Mega Drive -Mega CD -PC -Wii -NES -PSP Also will have a Master System soon since I bought one with 18 games on ebay for £10.51 last week. My favourite genre is Action/Adventure although I quite like RPGs also. I am pretty much into every genre except for strategy games and certain sports games like Madden etc. Favourite games include Zelda: A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, OblivionOkami, Shenmue series & Conker's Bad Fur Day. Some of my least favourite mechanics include games with very little to no checkpoints in levels, cheap ambushes like you get pulverised and can't move at all in an area and very bad cameras. I would like a recommendation on a good action/adventure game that has a good story although not necessary, great exploration similar to Zelda and is perhaps obscure that I might not know since I tend to play most of the well-known games like Zelda, God of War, Lords of Shadow etc. Any obscure platformers would be good also. Look forward to your thoughts whenever the time may come. PS: If you have thought of a game for a system, check my Collection to see if I own it already or not. Hey Pete: Systems I own- SNES N64 PS1/PS2 PS3 WII DSi PSP 3DS (doubt it makes a difference) GBA Genre's I am interested in are RPG's and Action/Adventure My favorite RPG's: Final Fantasy 2(NES)/6/7/10/13: I like these for there very interesting and addicting leveling system and also there great story. Pokemon (any): I like these because again for the addicting gameplay of constantly trying to level up and learn new moves. My Favorite Action/Adventures: Ocarina of Time & Twilight Princess: Pretty much because of the perfect diffucties in the puzzles and bosses make for a very satisfying game. What I look for in a game is for it to have a very deep story with a simple but fun leveling system. Games I have played: Final Fantasy 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10/12/13 Pokemon...All of them Ocarina of time and Twilight Princess Thanks |

hey pete all my friends have told me that the PSP has no good games. Now that the new vita is coming out i was hoping for some recommendations. To be honest i am in to almost every game genre. Great segment idea Pete ![]() So I'm looking to give some love to some of my lesser played consoles, the consoles in question being the Wii, PSP and DS. I love the horror game genre as well as RPGs and I'm not above playing weird, quirky games or importing(Except for my DS), but I'm really not a huge fan of fighting games. My favorite games of the horror genre is without a doubt the Silent Hill games followed closely by the Fatal Frame and Dead Space games. My Favorite RPGs are Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2 for WRPGs and Tales of Vesperia, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XIII for JRPGs. I'm still trying to go back and get into some of the older JRPGs as well and still enjoy turn based even though my favorites are more action oriented. For my Wii I own a decent number of games, but not a whole lot so to help you out here's the short list: Dead Space Extraction Donkey Kong Country Returns The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return and Overkill Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Metroid Prime 3 No More Heroes Resident Evil The Darkside/Umbrella Chronicles Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Sonic Colors Super Smash Bros. Brawl Please refrain from crucifying me over the lack of Super Mario Galaxy, I'm working on it , but I'm fairly aware of the big games I want for the Wii, and I'm mainly looking for some more obscure titles that I might not have heard about that I might enjoy. Just for an example, I came across Fragile Dreams and Cursed Mountain for the Wii the other day and I'm seriously considering picking them up. For my other systems, on the other hand, I'm in pretty dire need of some recommendations. By the way Pete, I have a question. You aren't planning on doing just one recommendation a week, are you? The only reason I ask this is because then I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to get to everyone's because the amount of them will only increase as time goes on. Also, do you plan on going in chronological order, responding to the earliest replies first and so on? I figured that would be the fairest way, so I was curious. Thanks! I'm not much of a traditional turn based guy, im more into action RPGs or maybe even a turned based game with a bit of a twist to the combat (Such as Radiant Historia). Hey Pete, I am a huge fan of the Shenmue and Yakuza series of games and was wondering if you can recommend a game similar to those game series. I would like if you could recommend the game or games for the wii, ps2, gamecube, dreamcast, or original xbox. Some of the game mechanics I really enjoy are a strong story, good music, open world gameplay, and a length of 10-30 hours. However, I do not like are first person perspective (at least for this type of game) and insane difficulty. Other than those I don't mind graphics or other game-play mechanics. Keep up the great work with the podcast all of you guys!
