I got a guy who has 2 for sale with a 1541C disc drive, Sakata MC-100 monitor, a 1530 Datasette Unit (with original box) & a 1525 VIC printer.

I asked how much he wanted and he shot back at me that I should make an offer.. lol is $20 too low ball?

$20 is extremely low. I'm not super familiar with the accessories however the computers alone are worth $25-30 each. I would say somewhere around $100, MINIMUM, is a fair price. If you can get lower though then by all means. I certainly spring at the deals myself when I see them :)

is this an online deal via craigs list or do you know the guy personally?

The reason is that a lot of these old computers can be pretty beat up, if you were able to see it first and make sure the keys all work, the disk drives work and that it all boots up fine then you'd be in a position to make an offer.

If its going to be by mail with communication over the internet then i reckon its the seller that should be giving a price first. You have the most to lose out of the deal.

I personally hate making offers, it makes the the whole experience far more effort than it needs to be.

did you go for it in the end? I dont usually like to deal with people on graiglist style markets unless i can actually go round and check that its working. Theres no buyer protection as its all private, makes me uneasy about buying electronics etc in general.
