Throwing this idea out there, would anyone be interested in seeing a dedicated video game collectibles/merch/promo/swag discussion forum in the marketplace section? Things can be discussed such as upcoming releases, collection pictures, appraisal threads, already existing/retro merch, recent purchases, is it "Real or fake" topic, etc. This may be active for the first month or so, but it may also become a dead board (I hate dead boards lol) so if there is enough interest I will make this forum and move over related topics existing in other forums. Lets say if we get 75 votes for "yes" I will create the forum, as I think that is enough generated interest to warrant it. Vote in the poll on this topic, and also post suggestions here as well.

It would be great and the most important thing we have to understand is that we are a growing community. The number of active members is growing, but we are still relatively small. The forum is a niche that several of us would probably love but it probably wouldn't be super active beyond the initial creation where there is a lot to talk about. I think it is a great idea though and another opportunity to bring more people into the forum so we can truly be a forum for all gamers and collectors. |

There is a growing interest in gaming collectibles and merchandise, so I think having a dedicated section for discussing it is a good idea. There is always the possibility of it seeing some initial activity and then going dark, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. |

Well people are always asking me about where I get my stuff from, how do I know when this stuff is being released, etc. So having a place to discuss upcoming releases of stuff (and pre order bonus items) would probably be quite helpful for many people. It would also be cool to see others collections of merch, recent hauls, etc. But like I said, there needs to be enough interest first before I go making a new forum section (which wont be a sub forum, it will be its own forum) |

I like the idea, it would make the forums feel like they have a bit more of a variety. Even if you make the forum, worse case scenario, it flops. I see it going one of two ways. It’s either popular at first and dies a slow and painful death or has a rough start and becomes active. Regardless I would love to see one, even if it failed. |

I think it's a great idea, the one thing I'd have a concern with is someone faking something and trying to get lots of cash for it from a new forum goer...but I think we can keep that from happening, as we all look out for each other around here for the most part. |

Great idea! I voted 'yes' and would particularly like to see update versions of the current 'Game System' Collection threads, starting from scratch so that more interest is gained to them and so people actually start discussing the collections. I would also like to hear what Pete and everyone else has to say about their collectibles and what not. Still pushing for an eventual Review forum and another idea I have will be posted in this SUggestions forum shortly. |

Go for it. If there's going to be any buying and selling, have a feedback thread and make a damn good disclaimer. Maybe have people pay with Paypal so it's in their hands or something. |

Let me make something clear though, this is not going to be a buying/selling forum, as we have that already which is where buying and selling of anything will stay. This forum will be about discussion just as the "general gaming" forum is for games. |

I actually am against it. We usually post this stuff in General Gaming, or simply in the "Specific Console" Sub-Forum, so i don't feel like it is necessary.

This whole forum is based off of collecting already. I think there have been enough posts in general gaming and off topic, as well as some of the current generation areas to be sufficient. I'm curious what would be a reason a person would prefer to post in a collectible section of the forum rather then general of specific gaming, as I think just about any question about a collectible can fit into the categories we have here. |

I am still up for adding this forum once we have enough votes. My only concern now is where to add it. Place it under the category where General Gaming, Current Generation, and Past Generation are? I would call it something like "Game Collectibles & Memorabilia". Or I could stick it somewhere else, but I think that is the most fitting section to place it under. I could make it a subforum somewhere if needed. If the forum fails to take off I will just dump all the topics into general gaming anyway. |
