If I had to choose just one: Shawshank redemption, probably because it was one of the first dramas that sucked me in when I was younger. I would choose Usual suspects but it loses its impact after watching it multiple times. |

Since the dark knight It has some writing and great actors to boot it up The hole story plays out as if it was a game of cat and mouse except you don't know which one is cat and mouse (on a cliff note)::: I don't necessarily like movies like avatar that get the hipe for the 3d and the special effects and has a weak story that we have heard before Edited by leonk4, Apr 5 2011, 12:06 PM.

12 Angry Men is amazing. Seen in the theatre also a couple of times. As for a favourite movie, I cant decide. I love so many movies Star Wars, Fight Club, Old Boy etc that to pick one is impossible. I feel the same ways about songs/albums. |

About a week or two ago I saw a movie called Secondhand Lions. I gotta say It was one of the best movies I have ever seen, it has good humor, decent drama scenes and I swear the two uncles could pass for real people. The ending was great as well. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good light hearted but somewhat meaningful movie. |

Favorite movie is really difficult. I really enjoy Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but that's perhaps because I really love the book and author. I also like a Clockwork Orange, the anime Akira, True Romance and the Big Lebowski. I think I have to go with The BIg Lebowski, it has the most wonderful characters in it, and it is super-funny. |

i couldnt pick a movie as my fav, i change my mind so often and it usually comes down to what mood im in. Watched naked gun 2 for the 1,000,000th time last night though, it has some of the best lines in any movie. Frank(thinking to himself):"she was the kind of woman that made you want to drop to your knees and thank god you were a man. Yep, she reminded me of my mother alright..." Ed:"cut it out frank, your looking at her like she was your mother!" |

he was hilarious, had perfect timing and the best one-liners. "Can you describe the man you saw?" "he was caucasian, with a moustach, about 6 foot..." "thats an awfully big moustache..." |

Fave Drama: Magnolia - such an epic drama movie, love it from beginning to end (even the bizarre twist at the end). It probably is Tom Cruise's best performance ever ("RESPECT THE COCK & TAME THE CUNT!!") Fave retro/cult movie: Big Trouble in Little China Lots of nostalgia for this movie. I've probably seen it more then 30 times since the eighties. Love all the over-the-top performances (love Kurt Russel and the classic villain ""Lo-Pan" by James Hong in it) and it has an amazing synth score by Carpenter (director) & Alan Howarth. Fave indie movie: Being John Malkovich Probably the most original film I've ever seen in my life. Mindblowing film. Highly recommended! Fave recent Horror/shocker movie: The Human Centipede - I had already seen this film before I've ever heard of All Gen Gamers and was totally amazed by this Dutch (!) movie. The idea of the movie is quite absurd, but original....and that's what I love about it (I'm not easily shocked by these kind of absurd/disgusting ideas). The performances were a lot better then I anticipated; the former (german) surgeon guy was truly made for this role and the girls could really envoke the total terror and awful posiion they were in. The only letdown were the rather "wooden" performances of the policemen at the end. There are so many more great movies to talk about, but these just sprung to mind. I have a firm top 3 that I worked out a few years ago. Oldboy which if i was pushed I would choose over the other two, as close to perfection as film making could ever come. Second is Naked, the definitive journey through the deepest darkest recesses of the human soul. Lastly would be Caligula, a masterpiece so damaged that it transcends film making and becomes something wholly more fascinating, entertaining and perplexing altogether. On an unrelated note I saw thor last night, never read a Thor comic but i'm a big fan of JMS and Kenneth Branagh. Thought it was tonnes of fun, really silly but knowingly so and having as many good laughs with itself as possible. |

It's really hard to choose just one movie... It's a tie between Reservoir Dogs and Casablanca. They are just perfect movies IMO |

There are so many great movies, I suggest people head on over to imdb and check out their top 250. At least 150 are really great movies, with a handful thrown in there for popularity, so be wary of those. |

Mine would be Eraserhead, 'cause the first time you see this you're really going to ask yourself: "What the fuck did I just watched?". The movie is full of weird and creepy images that will haunt your dreams for a while and will stay with you forever. I reccomend this movie to anyone, especcially to those people, such as myself, who like horror movies and think that they can't be scared and creeped out by anything anymore. You can never go wrong with some David Lynch. Besides Eraserhead I'd reccomend The Elephant Man too. A great drama/biography. As for other movies Scarface(1983) is definetly high up there on my list, and so is Grave of the Fireflies. |

Couldn't pick one either, I'm a big movie guy and love soooo many different flicks from many different eras, genres, and regions. For me to pick a favorite movie I'd have to put M up against Army of Darkness, Re-Animator against Bride of Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles battling it out with Sword of Doom, Spoorloos against The Sound of Music... you get the point. |

Off the top of my head, the only two movies I can think of that could even be considered for my favorite are Superbad or the original Nightmare on Elm Street. Old horror movies are the best. |

Foreign films, as in, not 'Merican for me, have definitely dominated my favorites for a long time, at least since the 2000's. Most of my favorites of the last decade, save for a few, such as Momento, The Departed, and Requiem for a Dream come from non-English speaking countries. And even one that's by a 'Merican director, but hardly has any English in it. That would be the incredible Letters from Iwo Jima directed by Clint Eastwood. But yeah, a few I would recommend: City of God (My favorite movie of the last decade) (Brazil) A Bittersweet Life (South Korea) Oldboy (South Korea) Mindgame (Japan) Pan's Labyrinth (Mexico) Amélie (France) And man. That's just for starters. Edited by Mshkote, Sep 15 2011, 07:59 PM.

Alright people, we are in October and a lot of people like to watch horror movies around this time of year! So Far I only watched Candyman and Blair Witch Project. I absolutely loved both of them. Candyman has got to be one of the most underrated movies ever. As for Blair Witch, it was also pretty good. It had to have good acting for it to work and thank god it did. Tonight I'll be watching Evil Dead 2 and a lot of people say it's awesome...we'll see! What are you guys's thoughts on the movies that I mentioned and what movies did you watch/planning on watching this October?! |
