I was planning on building my own Gaming PC but I found a powerful pre-built one for a great price so I bought it.

I've been thinking about building my own, but CyberPowerPC offers great prices, cheaper than if I built the PC myself by buying parts off NewEgg, and this is with name brand parts, too. I don't know why I would build it myself giving those cirumstances.

This is what I did with my current computer. I still upgrade parts here and there on it and will continue until I can't go any farther with it.

The parts for my PC should be here within the next week actually. Did a lot of searching for the best prices and got everything all shipped to me so I can put it together.

Going to be a very good machine. Totally excited to get it together and boot it up. :D

My laptop's about 5 years old now. I think I should probably go for a 10 year lifecycle like Sony and Microsoft are trying to do. It's good to get the most out of your money before moving on. But part of me is very tempted to get a new computer lately. But when I think about all the money, I come to my senses.

before i bought my computer that i have now i seriously thought about building my own. i researched how its done and best parts/prices and such, but i was 12 years at that point and found it to be a bit too hard for me and i was afraid i would mess it up or buy parts that wont fit, so i just decided to buy a pre-built pc from a store. i am most likely going to try to upgrade this one once the times comes for it, or build own one when this one gets too old

I've built my last 3 PC's.
I prefer the customization and satisfaction that I've built something of use.

Been bulding my own PC's since I was 13 ( 32 now lol ). As long as you got a steady hand and a clear respect for the hardware you would have been fine. I walked one of my EVE corp m8s ( guild m8 ) who is technostupid through building his last PC 2 months ago while on ventrilo.

It just isn't that hard so give it a whirl!

Building is much more fun, however the price of individual parts have gone up so much that if you just want a general gaming PC, it's cheaper just to buy a pre-built and upgrade the video card and ram. My current PC is a quad core with 6gb ram 1tb hard drive, and came with a nice 23 inch HD monitor which I got for $800 over a year ago. I also got a newer video card for around $150. So my computer cost $950 in the long run and is about a year old. It handles all games i've tried on it very nicely, and the only stutter was on FF14 which I've heard doesn't run well on any computer. I priced the closest to the pre-built parts as I could find just out of curiosity and even now a year later they still add up to well more than what I paid for it all a year ago.

It used to be a lot cheaper to build your own, but now unless you want something very custom, it's better just to buy one outright. Then you don't have to worry about all of the compatability issues that always arise with PC builds.

Now for the real challenge... Try building a mac :D

My friend made mine for me. I told him I needed one that would run games made for XP and before, and he did it in about 2 days and gave it to me.

Same for mine, my PC is a monster except for its graphics card. I have Radeon HD 4350 512 MB graphics card which is pretty descent and extremely cheap. It is only $34.99 on NewEgg. I am planning on upgrading but not anytime soon, I want to play all the PC games my computer can handle first.

Got mine built from CyberpowerPC. If you do order from them, I highly recommend you specify getting a name-brand power supply however, otherwise they really cheap out on it.

I plan to build my next PC. I won't need an upgrade for a while but, I guess I might as well start looking at some cases.
My question: Should i get water-cooled?

I built both of my computers. The first I built in early high-school, my new one I built right at the end of high school, so about 3 years ago now. It still destroys any game though, really.

Same here, day one bought a new monitor and a graphics card. It's just faster to be honest. I've built PCs before and rather than wait for the parts and put it all together I just took the lazy route.

I'm in the market for a brand new desktop and know next to nothing about computers... any suggestions? I'm primarily going to be using it for gaming.
