Well I've decieded to make this thread because of the GCN games I've looked at today.

What do you remember most about it?

Here are mine:

1. I got the PS2 and GameCube in the same year, 2002, and played the Gamecube more (I think).

2. Back when renting games still exsisted, I rented Mario Kart: Double Dash and SSMM a lot.

3. The thing I remember most is: Going to Grand Casino, and bringing the Gamecube, and watching my brother play Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door the entire time we were in the room, I don't know why but it gives me a good feeling inside.

I unfortuntely sold my GameCube in 2006? to GameStop, and I don't like buying used things from people I don't know, so if I decide to get a new one, its gonna be brand new.

I remember getting a GCN for my 9th birthday. I was looking foreward of getting back into nintendo. I was a huge PS2 gamer before I got my GCN. I spent hours playing MKDD, SSBM, And Pokemon XD gale of darkness. The gamecube was the most powerful of the 128 bit game consoles, but not the most successful. Due to not having a DVD player, it got overshadowed by Xbox and PS2.

Well actually on Amazon in the US, they are only 70$ new, so I've actually been thinking about it for a while.

Sorry for the double post (I dont know how to quote more than one thing in a single post), but I meant Super Smash Bros Melee, but I put an M instead of a B for some reason.

My brother and I got the Gamecube for Christmas one year, but we were aware that our parents had already purchased it. One day, we both skipped school and opened it way before Christmas and also opened Super Smash Bros Melee and played it all day. It was pretty daring to me as a kid to do that but it was so worth it lol

The Gamecube was actually the first console of it's generation that I bought; the PS2 and the Xbox came later. I wanted it because I trusted the Nintendo brand and I loved the design of the console. I bought it with a few games - Star Wars, FIFA, and Crazy Taxi. I loved them and I played my gamecube a lot over the next few weeks. Sadly, I bought a PS2 shortly thereafter and I soon abandoned the system. I've been thinking recently that I should dig it out and play it again - it had some great games, despite the franchise titles Mario, Zelda, Starfox, etc) being disappointments. It deserves another chance.

I loved the fact that there were so many quirky games on it; hated the fact that i had to import most of them (Australia did not have many 3rd party localisations)
Over a third of my 80+ games are UK imports!

Loved ToS and Summoner: A Goddess Reborn. 2 classic RPGs.

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

I LOVE the GameCube. I bought mine in the summer of 2003, and spent the rest of the summer playing it. I remember waking up for school every morning morning and popping in Animal Crossing to check up on my town.

Unfortunately I don't have enough of the big games; not because I was seduced by the PS2 or Xbox or anything like a lot of people (I didn't get a PS2 until 2006, and didn't get an Xbox until September of 2009), I was just a poor kid. Hell, I "borrowed" my copy of Animal Crossing from a friend who didn't play it anymore, lmao. I plan on fleshing out my GameCube collection pretty soon though; wish some titles weren't so damned expensive though =/

When I think of Gamecube. I remember Gotcha Force. I bought that game for 13 USD.
Was WELL worth it. I played that game nonstop. I beat it so many time.
Then I think of Metroid Prime 1. As I was extremely happy when I beat the game 100%. First 100% playthrough in the Metroid series. I haven't gotten 100% in any other one. That and I belive Prime 1 has the best environments in a Metroid game.

I remember my room was in the basement, and the TV with the Gamecube was pretty much right next to my room. I would wake up to the sound of my dad playing Luigi's Mansion. :P

My fondest memory of my GC was probally the GBA player addition. I bought more GBA games than I did GC heh. Got pretty addicted to Fire Emblem for a while.

Animal Crossing stole a LOT of my time that I should have been using to study. I sure wish I still had one though. Flea Market season can't roll back around fast enough for me.

Yep! I am playing Golden Sun right now on my GBP. If I ever seriously collect for a system it will be for the GBA. I run my cube in 480p and the GBP looks great.

I really love the GC too. I only have like 30 games but they are all great titles. My main memory of when I got mine was getting Windwaker and SM Sunshine. I played those games to death. Really great console.

I have started a run of Paper Mario: TTYD along side a friend and afterwards a run of Wind Waker, looking back now, im pretty sure the GameCube was my favorite console.

Being 14 now, that game system was the first one I remember being excited to come out, so when I got it that one Christmas morning, I was quite the excited child. I also got Super Mario Sunshine, my favorite Mario game ever, with it.

From there amazing game experiences kept coming, Mario Party 4, Sonic Adventure 2, Animal Crossing, OF COURSE Super Smash Bros. Melee. Me and my older brother played the hell out of it, it was probably the first game I ever got 100% unlocked. Moving on: Harvest Moon, Pikmin, Luigis Mansion, Rayman 3, and definitely more.

So basically...nostalgia out of me lol.

I too was a fanatic for the Gameboy Player. That thing was a retro RPG gamer's dream come true. I have WAY more GBA games than Gamecube games, and that disc rarely comes out. I even got the black Gamecube just so it would look like a single unit. And I got the Hori Digital Pad, the only way to play classic RPGs.

I'm still buying games for it every few months or so.

What I remember most about it? The nostalgia that I have from it. It was the first home video game console that I ever had, and I absolutely loved it. I remember opening it up on Christmas, my mouth dropped wide open, and immediately playing it. I have memories, of playing Mario Kart on there with my dad, and when I got the GameBoy Player, Classic NES: Super Mario Bros. with my mom. Memories of GameStop giving me the wrong DBZ game, and going back to the store to get the right one, and beat it in 7 hours. Memories of loving it more than I did the Xbox, PS2, and somewhat the Dreamcast. I remember playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, with, at the time, my best friend, and cousin, and memories of playing Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness with my friends at my birthday party. All the different games I had on this console, from Bionicle Heroes, to Super Smash Bros. Melee. Thinking back at it now, I wonder why I sold it to my cousin in the first place, let alone all the games I had for it. Looking back it it now, I realize all the games I missed out on, and all the games I need to get. 'Till this day, I still by GameCube, games and enjoy them, and that is the one thing you cannot take away from me. This is something, that will always be in my heart as a gamer.

i always thought it was amazing what they could fit on those small disks back when the game cube came out.....

but for me it just missed the bar. I guess at the time I was a bit too old to chose smash bros over the GTA series, the warriors, quantum redshift, bloodwake, twisted metal black and head on... etc.

but for guy who wants to buy another game cube, why not just grab a new controller? no doubt you have a wii already.

I kinda have a semi sweet memory of when I got the gamecube. I was working on my first film back home in 2002, and the film was canned like half way through because everything fell apart. I even had a good chunk of my own money invested. When it was canned and I got what was left of my money back it was like 200-300, I went out and bought the Gamecube and a bunch of games to keep my mind off it. It came out like a month or two before but I had my money tied up in the movie and no time to play games. And I remember playing ALOT of Animal Crossing :P
