I think it would be interesting to see GameStop get bought out. A shake up in management is probably just what this company needs (from what I've read about working there). I mean they could only make it better, right?

As long as the new company is against putting tons of stickers on their games then I'm all for it.

i agree with HCG, pretty much anything would be an improvement. maybe more retro games, less stickers, new games actually being sealed. it can only get better.

More retro games would be great but I don't know how marketable it would be to the mainstream public. I have actually heard that Gamestop is considering on pulling their PS2,xbox(original) and Gamecube titles out of their stores and only selling them online.

I'm not completely opposed to this, and I hope the Canadian EB stores would make the shift as well, as long as it doesn't mean that current workers would lose their job.

I have a couple of buddies who work at EB, and the high ups at EB have been severely cutting down the hours that they are giving to be distributed by workers, just to pocket more money. It's complete bull crap, they are also getting paid quite dinky wages for the amount of sales they pull in.

A smaller store who sells $4000 worth of copies of FF13 for midnight launch who is not just game specific, while EB sold $25000 worth of copies is still making just barely above minimum.

My point is, they CLEARLY are making tons of money, and the company is so frugal and greedy it can't seem to give workers a little bit more cash, or hours.

One of the store managers would have hired me on the spot, if simply there were more hours to throw around, the part timers there due to some changes, who use to get 20+ hours of week get something like 8 hours a week or less.

I would like to see if maybe new management would shake things up and be more efficient. As well as hopefully make the Canadian counter part mirror the American one more closely when it comes to new release prices.

They are a poorly run company in terms of gamer cred, but they work brilliantly for mainstream people and especially moms. Taking advantage of people with low video game knowledge, shoving preorders down people's throats, resealing used games and selling them as new, etc...

They are a successful business that is well marketed for the most part and chooses great locations, but morally the company is one of the worst I have seen.

QuickSciFi on YT has some pretty good videos on how he removes the GS stickers. Has worked for me on each and every one I've restored so far. He even goes over spine sticker removal.

Rude staff, cases festooned with stickers, used copies sold at "New" prices and a stingy trade-in/buying policy. That's how I define Gamestop. The new company will probably try to jazz it up by changing the name and logo, but I don't see any changes since the chain is so profitable. You can try to polish a turd, but at the end of the day, it's still a turd.

Ds Games!

If they keep selling used games and have buy 2 get 1 sales then i'll be ok with it. I'd be happy if they eased off with the stickers directly onto the cover art spine though, that's highly unnecessary.

I try not to shop at gamestop. all of my purchases are done through the net. cheaper, and you don't get games that look like someone took them and rubbed them all over a brick wall.

I just wish that they had buy 2 get 1 free every day. I would be happy then.

I'm all for GS getting bought out. They aren't generally fair on prices, and sometimes the employees are total douches. However, the manager at my local GS is a pretty cool guy, he does care about his job...others, however, are jerks, do not attempt to establish connections with customers, and could care less if they are selling you a broken game.

Ugh everyone is always crying about gamestop. I don't understand it. The reason people go to Gamestop is that it is convenient. Its not designed to catter to the collector market considering that is an extremely small part of the people who actually buy video games. I think a buyout would be interesting, but I doubt the company would change very much. They will never carry retro games because they are not profitable enough. Retro games are really more of a niche thing for smaller game shops. The customer service from the part time employees will not get better either because everyone is lazy and could care less about anyone else. This is the same at all large retail corporations. Any game store that gets this big is gonna have crappy part time employees. If you want a relationship with the guy working at the game store go to a local one where the owner works all the time and that is his livelihood.

Now, I think it would be nice to see changes in Gamestop. The workers here know absolutely nothing of video games. I was looking for a DS game they said they had. I looked all over the shelves and couldn't find it. The guy was like, "You should have of asked if it was behind the counter." HE TOLD ME IT WAS ON THE SHELF!

Agreed. I just bought some used games for my cousins at gamestop, and it took me two hours just to get all of the annoying stickers off. And the trade in policy is crud. I miss EBGames, before Gamestop bought it. If this is true, then that would be great. Like HCG said, they can't make it worse.

hopefully they do make improvements.1 bring back letting older consoles and games to be traded in or bought. 2. LESS STICKERS! 3.Sealed games 4.Staff that Knows what the hell they are talking about! 4.charging less for used games and actually giving cutsomers a fair deal on the trade in instead of the ripoffs we're forced to stomach. 5.actually keeping stock of what they do and do not have. 6. sell the damn item at the price it is online i know it's a store to store thing but come on i hate that Sh*t $20 online $39 in store.

gamestop could be better in many different aspects. For one I hate buying a game when it say's its new , yet there's no seal on it . And are 5 different yellow stickers on a game case really necessary ?

I remember reading this when I first joined, but anyway, I don't think GS would change much if they were boughtout. Especailly since places like Target are now starting to buy your used games and giving you credit (which btw, has anyone tried). But I do remember when GS was a better place, back in 2005 or 2006. At least the people at mine are actually chill.
