Hey Splattertrigger, do you have any other interesting and import friendly SHMUPS on any systems besides Darius Burst on the PSP that are pretty decent?

OMG! you have 2 of the best SHMUP's that has ever been made for a console and you haven't played them yet! I am in shock! :P

Mushihimesama Futari Ver 1.5 has become my all time favorite shoot em up game. everything about the game is above and beyond anything else in the genre. (I must add I haven't played Death Smiles yet so that could change my opinion)

Espgaluda II Black Label Is a epic game as well but I tend to like MF 1.5 a tad bit better, maybe because it was the first region free Cave game.

I payed around $90 each for the copies I got (both standard editions) but I had them pre-ordered from Play Asia with the fastest shipping possible.

The Limited edition of Mushihimesama Futari can be crazy high depending on where you get it from.

For Espgaluda II you MUST GET THE STANDARD EDITION FOR IT TO BE REGION FREE. The Limited edition is Japanese only.

The standard editions for both you can get for $75-$79 brand new on play-asia.Espgaluda 2 RE is the only version that is region free.MF v1.5 LE will cost you your soul if you can find it brand new now.I actually struck up a deal with an ebay japan store seller for my copy.I paid just $10 over the original release price and it's the first pressing that has the coupon for the arcade bullet pattern as well.

CHAOS FIELD is a great Japanese shooter for the GAME CUBE, it may have been released in the US to, but I live in the UK and it wasn't released here, if there is a US version I'd recommend checking it out if you don't already have it, I have the Jap' version, I'd be intrested to know if it did get a US release, if not it's a good Japanese import.

I've already snagged it Ste.Over here you can find it in the bargain bin for a couple of dollars. It also was released on the Wii in the states as part of Ultimate Shooting Collection which goes for $15 new if anyone is interested in getting it.It's not a bad deal considering there are 2 other shmups in the collection as well. One day I hope to pick up the original Chaos Field console port for the import Dreamcast.

Nintendo DS: Ketsui Death Label

It's an amazing (and expensive) bullet hell SHMUP. Very import friendly... just a bit pricey.

Another import friendly title on the horizon(June/July 2010) for the PSP. It's a revamped KOF Sky stage with Characters from other NeoGeo titles and new stages. The UMD will also have the original KOF Sky Stage as well. A partial of this title will also be coming to XBLA.Early preorders for the PSP will get a soundtrack.Play-asia has the game listed for $48 and NCSX.com has it for $52.

Thanks for posting that. I just ordered a copy off Ebay after watching it for about $73 bucks, but it looks like it will be well worth it. Can't wait until Deathsmiles comes out, already got the Limited Edition pre-ordered from Amazon!

Yeah I mainly want it just because it looks weird, and absurd. As soon as I saw the player running from a giant mutated cow boss I just had to pre-order it! xD lol. The extras it comes with are a really nice addition too, especially the faceplate.

I like shmups, but I haven't played too many of them. Primarily some of the 360 ones Triggerheart Excelica, Ikaruga, Raiden IV, and Raiden Fighters Aces and I liked them. I've played older ones too, but I don't remember their names. =/

I've been wanting it since it was released in Japan.Hell I wanted those special Japan 360 Deathsmiles sticks as well! The sequel was just released in Japan last month as well.Hopefully it will sell(DS in North America) well because Cave is waiting to see the sales...if they are good then Cave will try to enter the North American market.

Just got my copy of Mushihimesama Futari Ver 1.5 today! Can't wait to start playing it, and thanks for the recommendation.
Also if you guys plan on importing this game too I HIGHLY recommend this seller.
http://myworld.ebay.com/dinoempire

Quite frankly the best international seller I've ever dealt with. She keeps you informed of your order, is very friendly, ships really fast, and does an excellent packing job. My game was in a fortress of bubble wrap, and cardboard to keep it protected. I also ordered the game last Wednesday, and received it today (Tuesday) from China. That's crazy fast compared to Play-Asia, and HKOfferhouse. Most things I order within the United States don't even get here that fast. lol.

Unfornitaly 99% of the time import SHMUPS and cheap don't mix!

for the 360 Mushihimisama Futari Ver. 1.5 and ESPgaluda II are the only imports you can get without getting a Japanese system.

If you truly want to get into import SHMUPS then you need to get a Japanese Sega Saturn or a PC-Engine DUO-R. Tho 2 systems have a unreal library of SHMUPS.

Its not a import but if you have a Wii then I highly recommend getting Ultimate Shooting Collection. It is probably the best deal as far a price is concerned you can get. You get 3 games in the collection Chaos Field, Karous, and Radirgy all originally released on the Dreamcast. Amazon has the collection for $14.99. (June, 16, 2010)

I can try to help you with some more cheaper imports if you let me know what system your wanting to start collecting for.

It's cool you got your copy so fast. I am sure you will be happy with the game as its one of the best in the genre right now. Probably the very best that's North American friendly.

I've beaten it 3 times today already, got 225 achievement points, and it's so much fun and addicting. Hard as hell, but I'm loving it. Thanks for the recommendation, and I'll think about checking out that other one you posted as well soon. (Wish I could find an Ebay seller who had the price as low as Play-Asia)

I have one question though, how do I unlock other characters? I think there's 2 that I can unlock.

As far as I know Reco and Palm are the only 2 playable characters.

You can only use Reco and Palm but you can use two different modes of shot (normal/abnormal) which changes how they play quite a bit.

I'd recommend Ketsui too if you liked DoDonPachi DaiOuJou. Though they need a JP 360..

I have been wanting to import a Japanese 360 but the fail rate on the 360s is the reason I haven't. Any Idea when Japan will be getting the new model of the 360? I might end up getting one if Ketsui don't get ported over. I am hoping that Deathsmiles will do good so maybe it will be ported over here as well.
