How did you discover HCG?; A shoutout video? Game review search?

I Like Games.

I first stumbled upon his channel when Ys books I & II released on the Wii VC. I was interested in the series so I got on youtube and searched for a review of the game. I watched his video and was blown away by his energetic personality, high production values, and knowledge. This was back when he had maybe 100-150 subscribers. I subscribed right away and gained inspiration to create my own videos. Needless to say I purchased Ys on the virtual console as well :)

I found HCG by some reccommended videos on the homepage, I must have watched a video that was closely related to one of HCG's videos. I subscribed right away and have been a fan ever since. :)

About fall 2008 was searching video game collections and stumbled upon HCG. Was blown away by his editing and knowledge of games. I enjoy his vids where he talks about the series of a certain franchise. From there on I found petedorr through recommended videos or similiar videos. That is where my inspiration started.

I remember that I came to them trough related videos, I checked their channel and both were really fun at the same time they got arcade machines and a massive game collection, yeah so that's kinda where it started.

Youtube is a big source to find people that got the same interests, for some years ago I would never thought that people got such big collections.

I first saw his videos about 1 year ago. I was amazed at how much time and dedication he put into his videos. I didn't actually subscribe till I made my own youtube account.

I first heard of the Happy Console Gamer on Pete's "Community Spotlight Video" and I went and checked out his videos. I liked the channel instantly and I subscribed, and it is actually through HCG that I have discovered other Youtubers, most notably Lukemorse1.

I believe I heard about him from a shoutout video too. It's been awhile, so my memory is fuzzy, but it was definitely from either Pete (I know he did one) or it might have been from AlexDemoted (I know I subscribed to a few people through his shoutout videos, just not sure if HCG was from him, lol).

When I was about 19 I found myself face down in a ditch with my pants around my ankles and an empty vodka bottle laying beside me and the next day I met him. :D

That would be quite the sight to see.

Anyway, I think it was early 09 when I found out about his videos. Immediately got hooked because of the games/consoles I had not even heard of before. A lot of great gems out there I wouldnt even know about.

Thanks again for recommending Strider, Johnny!

Pete Dorr shout out video. Never knew Pete was inspired by the Happy Console Gamer to make videos but I clearly understand why after seeing them. Great work Johnny, always pleased when a new video comes out :)

I was guided to HCG by PeteDorr and I'm really glad I was. I only subscribe to 3 channels right now, and HCG is one of them. The way HCG and Robman speak about games with such passion and knowledge is really what drew me into the channel. They both appear confident on camera; like they know what they want to say and they believe it. Nothing timid at all. Good stuff.

Definitely from a shoutout video, but from whom i've no idea. Almsot my entire subscription list is compiled of gamer channel shoutouts. I found so much great content from game chanel shoutouts that i don't even search youtube for anything at all, everything I may want is represented from a subscription I got from a shoutout. I got a feeling tho that maybe it was a shoutout from Retrogamer3.....
I only came to youtube 1.5 years ago, after I accidentally saw Angry Videogame Nerd Nintendo Power Episode, then stared searching for Nes reviews and such. rest is history.
