I've been looking for Saturns on ebay recently, trying to find a saturn system. I found some free space in my game room, so I have been trying to get a saturn as my next system. I'm trying to find one that comes with games. It would be nice if I could get one soon

The Saturn is one of my favorite consoles. If you like SHMUPS you might want to think about a Japanese / Modded Saturn or getting the Action Replay so you can import. Just know that King of Fighters 95 will only run on a Japanese Console or one that's been modded. you should check out Game Doctor HK he has great deals on modded consoles. I have bought a few consoles from him over the years and never had any issues. http://gamedoctorhk.com/ |

I have saw a few different ones show up on eBay over the years so I dont know if the stickers were random or if Sega made a series of Sakura Taisen memory cards. |

is that because the action replay card's ram does not work for this game? and if that is the case, I believe there is one more game with the problem as well (one of the capcom games perhaps?) Edited by Mr_Debauch, Mar 2 2011, 12:26 PM.

King of Fighters 95 has a "rom" cart and not a "ram" cart. the rom cart has game data on it as well as extra memory. To play imports on a non modded North American system you have to use the 3 in 1 cart to bypass region lock and in doing so you are not able to use the rom cart. If your system is modded to bypass region using a chip the cart slot is free to still us the rom cart so you can play KOF 95. As far as I know this is the only Saturn game that uses a rom cart. more info in this thread.......... http://petesgameroomforum.com/topic/3910928/ Edited by majinpowers, Mar 3 2011, 06:10 AM.

Beyond awesome thread Majin. Really wish you had a youtube channel. I am starting up my sega saturn collection right now/sega genesis/cd and eventually dreamcast. Next pick ups video will be sega edition :). You can thank Pier Solar for throwing me over the edge into something I have been meaning to do for awhile. It is amazing how a release years and years after a consoles death can have an impact on someone. I plan on taking out alot of the essentials soon :). Panzer Dragoon Saga/Radiant Silvergun will have to wait though as I need to set aside some money for those. I mean...I am spending enough as is for those games, but I figured that it would be better to save up for those and pick up many more games instead and gradually finish up the essentials. Same goes for Snatcher on the sega CD. I am working on getting the working designs rpgs also, but those are tricky. Finding one complete, great condition, and in an auction(not twice the price ebay buy it nows) will take some patience. It never ceases to amaze me how many copies are missing the stickers or some other piece yet every copy pretty much sells for top dollar. Splattertrigger has more thanks from me for enlightening me on the subject. Popful Mail is number 1 on my most wanted list and hopefully I can track a copy down. There is one up that is in great shape besides a crease in the manual, but I want my stuff perfect :). |

@Richard I am glad you enjoyed it! You wont be disappointed with the Saturn in my opinion its the most under rated console out there. Still to this day it has some of the best ports of 2D fighting games and SHMUPS. The King of Fighters games and Capcom VS fighters are even better than the Dreamcast or PS2 ports so long as your playing the import versions that use the ram carts. Collecting for the Saturn unfortunately is very expensive because a lot of the games demand crazy high prices. Popful Mail is one of my favorite Sega CD games and well worth tracking down. I would also recommend the misadventures of Flink on the Sega CD for a cheap game that's often overlooked. I do have a youtube channel by the way, check it out sometime especially if your into SHMUPS! I didn't realize you had one as well I will check it out and will be looking forward to the pickup video as Sega blood flows through my veins. Edited by majinpowers, Mar 8 2011, 06:11 AM.

Hey guys! I'm looking into getting a Saturn. I found a japanese one with a controller and all the hookups with these games: Panzer Dragoon Panzer Dragoon II Panzer Dragoon Saga (no manual) Magic Knight Rayearth x2 Nights: Into Dreams Cristmas Nights (new?) Shining Force III Scenario 1 (new) Clockwork Knight Saturn Bomberman Fighting Vipers (+ extra memory) Vampire Savior (+ extra memory) King of Fighters '95 (+ extra memory) True Pinball Sonic Jam Shining Wisdom Grandia Tokimeki Memorial ~Forever with You~ Sega Ages: Shukudai ga Tant-R Puyo Puyo Sun Note that the games are japanese. What would this be worth approximately? Here is a picture: ![]() The guy is asking for $190, but I think I can haggle it to around $150. Would it be a good deal? Please note that I don't know any japanese, so my future investments would be an action replay to buy US games. It's sort of hard doing so since I am from Sweden, but I sure would love to play some Croc and Rayman while still being able to play Snatcher and Policenauts with the convenience of doing it on a single console. |

I might be wrong here but that works out (after haggling) at £106 (using XE converter) which (to me) looks a little steep. For half the price I got a PAL Saturn with 18 Games, 2 Controllers. However there are some good games that are being bundled with it so it's your call. Paying 150 is sure better that 190.

ARGH! Why did I read this now, after having a winning bid on Saturn!? I only bought it to play Fighters Megamix but figured there could be other games on it. But now you're telling me there are no games for Saturn unless you import? ARGH! I should've bought a Japanese Saturn then.

There are PLENTY of awesome Saturn games in the US, but there are HUGE amounts of games that were only released in japan. The good news is there is an awesome little tool that opens up the world of importing to you.....the Action Replay Plus. It lets you play imports, gives you extra Ram needed for some games, and also provides you with a memory cartridge. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-k8-49-en-70-1b2.html |

Oh thank goodness! I thought this was a dead system like the Sega 32X. I will definitely buy that Action Replay Plus. |

There are plenty of great games for the console I never said there are no games for Saturn unless you import. What I say is that importing for the Saturn will by far expand the amount of great games available to you especially if your into SHMUPS. I highly recommend you do import games for the system since its very simple but its not needed to experience whats IMO the best 32 bit console.

Added some new pictures of PAL Saturn games provided by Kharnivore2099! Also had to remove Kharnivore2099's first post in the thread so I could expand and to overcome the picture limit. This was the first "closer look" thread I created so It wasn't set up for expansion as nicely as some of the later ones. Thanks again for the pictures bro! I love the Saturn it has provided me with lots of memorable weekends. I have 2 but one is broken. I got my 2nd one last year to play the Shining Force 3 Saga. Definitely one of the major high points of 2011 for me. |

My Saturn Collection is one of my saddest, at the moment. I only have a coax hookup, though there is a local guy selling the AV cable for $10. I own three games for the system: Resident Evil (loose), Sega Rally Racing and Nights Into Dreams. I will likely be devoting more time/funds to it in the fall (I have a lot of other things going on this summer). |

I know, old post, but still--thought I'd toss out that there are a few games that use ROM carts. Ultraman is another along with KoF '95. I didn't read the linked thread, but it helps having a Japanese or modded system to play these. You *can* play them by doing a hot-swapping trick (basically rip out your action replay and slap in the ROM cart at a very specific moment). It works, but it's not really recommended. *edit.. Ahhh.. **** it--I'll bite. Regarding the Working Designs bit in the original post (a loooong, looooooooong time ago), I don't agree with it entirely. Bernie may have hassled them, but I don't think that's the reason they didn't bring the Lunar's out over here for it. Had it been a more successful platform, I bet we would have seen a Saturn version alongside the PlayStation versions. Keep in mind that the Silver Star pack wasn't released until '99, a good bit after the Saturn was official toast in the States. Edited by austinmackert, Apr 11 2012, 06:41 PM.
