I do not pay for hosting of the site, I pay for the domain (which is next to nothing), and I pay to remove ads. The problem with removing ads is that is costs money. At first it seemed like a deal, $0.18 for every 1,000 page views. Seems like a good deal right? So I put down the minimum purchase allowed of $5 for ad removal which bought me roughtly 27,500 page load credits. So say a user comes to the forum and browses topics and posts, say in one visit they click on links and load a page 100 times, thats -100 out of that 27,500 making it 27,400 remaining. After about ONE DAY of the forum being up I am already down to just over 18,000 of page loads remaining. Now I realize a lot of that is from the big boom of users coming to check it out (though if a Guest visits they see ads, this helps a little), but really I just burned through 10,000 page views in a single day. So just to warn you guys, I am not going to be able to afford to keep paying to remove the ads, that is just WAY too fast to burn through. Of course if you feel the need to want to donate, that is cool I guarantee 100% of what you donate will go straight to ad removal for the forum and would be greatly appreciated (not just by me but by all the users), but really that is totaly up to you as to how much or if you donate at all to the forum. Maybe things will die down in terms of page loads the next few days, but honestly guys this forum is too popular after a single day for me too keep paying for ad removal, lol. This is just a warning incase you see ads poping up again, but honestly...if ads bother you THAT much just get some kinda really good ad blocker or something. Honestly, I'm surprised the 27000 impressions have lasted this long. There's been so many people and so many posts I expected to see them back on long before. I tried to find an option in the control panel to show ads for myself, that way I didn't suck up so much of the ad-free impressions. No such option lol. |

If you need some charity to make that not happen I'm sure more then a few people would be willing to toss a few $$ at you. Also not that big of a deal (most people use adblocking stuff now adays anyway

Trying to get rid of the ads is a waste of money. There are ads all over the internet, and a few here and there on the forum wont bother anyone. It's not like you had ads up just to be a dick and prophit, you would have them there to save you money, with nothing to gain, how could we get mad over that? I say let them come back up, I don't see how anyone would complain. Also, with adblocker I don't think the adviews count for the domain holder. |

thanks man. I dont use Firefox (yet) but you know this gave me an idea. We should have a stickied thread or something with trusted programs people use to get rid of ads or something. |
