Yeah I have a video up quickly discussing 4 RPG's:

Baroque
Opoona
Dragon quest swords
Final fantasy fables chocobos dungeon

There are others that have came our since (fire emblem, ToS) but I have yet to play them. I really enjoy all 4 in the video though. Easiest one to reccomend in my opinion is dragon quest swords.

The system is lacking in RPGs just as the GCN and N64 were, but I just had to pick up the Tales of Symphonia sequel when it came out. Never played it yet, but I was a huge fan of the first so I think I can excuse this sequel's obvious flaws and shortcomings and it not measuring up to the first.

Opoona does look quirky and interesting, I will probably pick that up later this generation or once I get my PS2/GCN/XB collections complete. Which probably won't be for awhile. Sorry Opoona!

I think that there is a new FF game coming out sometime, but I don't when. I am not really into Wii RPGs that much.

I'm about to buy Chocobo's Dungeon (Wii) Soon, in between buying Disgaea 2 and Makai Kingdom for my PS2 :P.

It looks pretty awesome. Fans of Izuna / Mystery Dungeon type gameplay will love it.

Also I'm eager to see ToS..

Dragon Quest Swords is not an RPG. But it's a really cool game regardless. It's an arcade style on rails hack & slash. Think House of the Dead but with a sword.

I've heard great things about Opoona, but don't own it myself.

Thats how I describe DQ Swords, however I still feel it should be placed in atleast the RPG genre. It truly is a very light RPG game with like you said an on rails shooter with swords type feel. You are still able to grind levels, buy new equipment, items, get party members with magic, etc. Its all quite simple stuff, but IMO its still and RPG. If zelda can be called an RPG DQ Swords can surely be an RPG :)

Same. An RPG in my opinion is Fianl Fnatasy, Dragon Quest, lots of Square Games, lol...

there are legions of people who classify zelda as an RPG, just because of the hearts you collect to increase your life maninly....but they are all in pre-determined locations which to me is not RPG. Thats like saying God of War for the PSP is an RPG because you can collect orbs and feathers throughout the game to increase your hp and mp.
